Our new backpackers hostel in Sighetu Marmatiei is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful and unspoilt Maramures region of Romania. We offer clean and safe budget accommodation and individual tour services to travellers, students and backpackers of all ages. Our large family-managed hostel is located in a quiet garden, close to the town centre and is only 10 minutes walk away from the railway and bus stations.

On the first Monday of the month Sighet has a large horse market where all the peasants from the surrounding villages trade horses and livestock

Sighet has lots to offer from outstanding scenery, beautiful walks along the river Isa and up in the hills, through the forests and to local villages. We have many churches and museums to explore. Sighet holds frequent festivals and has  many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs.

Maramures is one of the best preserved area of Europe, where ancient European tradition and folklore are still practised. Here you will frequently see people wearing folk costume, other familiar sights are horse and ox-drawn carts on the roads and village lanes.

Maramures is an ideal location  for alpine walking, hiking, climbing, skiing, caving, paragliding and kayaking.

The stunning pastoral landscapes and picturesque villages offer photographers and artists some wonderful opportunities.
